Warm Up Those Feet
Getting cold feet this winter? It could be because your bedroom or bathroom is above the garage! This is a common problem for Canadian suburbanites – because many homes are designed with rooms above the garage. Garages typically don’t have their own heat source, and without proper insulation, this can lower the temperature of the rooms above. There are solutions to fix this, which are easiest if the garage is already unfinished. The easiest, but more expensive option is to use spray foam insulation in-between the joists in the ceiling. If you don’t want to tear into the ceiling you can lay insulation on the floor in the room above before you finish it. This is, of course, if you don’t mind losing about two inches of height in the room. Research your options, and ask a professional for help if you need it.
